The Hitlist: June 2023

Here’s our round-up of everything you need to do, read, watch and listen to this June 2023!

Now is the time to start adding to your June calendar! Need some tips? Our June Hitlist has you covered, from what to read, do, watch and listen to – it promises to help you have the most fun month yet!

After a three-year hiatus, this month sees the release of the third solo album from former One Directioner, Niall. Entering a new era of his career, this much-anticipated (by critics and fans, alike!) body of work pairs gorgeous melodic harmonies with soul-searching lyrics, meaning you’ll be listening to this day in, day out.

The Full Monty is BACK! 25 years after the hit movie was released – in which a group of six unemployed Sheffield steel-workers put on a strip show – Disney+ is bringing us an eight-part comedy drama following the same men as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield. All of the original cast are returning to be part of the series that explores the what happened to the group in the years after their strip show, from the highs to the lows.

This astonishing debut thriller deep dives into the complexities of friendship and the secrets between us that we may take to the grave. Twelve years ago, 18-year-old University of Iowa freshman Abby Hartmann disappeared. Now, Jon Allan Blue, the serial killer suspected of her murder, is about to be executed. The friends, estranged in the wake of Abby's disappearance must reunite when a high-profile podcast dedicates its next season to Blue's murders.

If you’re planning to enjoy some of the June sunshine in the city, be sure to head over to the Southbank for River Stage! The National Theatre’s River Stage returns for a month of free outdoor live music, dance, performance, workshops and family fun. Weekend evenings will see a varied programme of entertainment take place in front of the theatre, with special take-over weekends from The Glory, James Cousins Company, Shubbak Festival and Hackney Empire’s Young Producers.
