Our Race Day Top Tips

1. Arrive Early

We recommend arriving early to beat the crowds and secure a good spot for viewing the races. It also allows you to familiarise yourself with the venue, find parking, and explore any pre-race activities or entertainment. Don't forget to fuel up with a big breakfast, especially if you plan on drinking, to keep you energised for the long day ahead!

2. Know the Dress Code

Check the event's website to confirm the dress code and ensure you're dressed to impress while embracing your personal style and the event's theme. You might even bag the title of 'best dressed'!

3. Check the Weather Forecast

Be sure to double-check the weather forecast on the morning of the race and be prepared to dress accordingly. Consider bringing an umbrella and a lightweight layer, such as a chic scarf, in the event of summer showers or if you feel cold. It’s no secret that the great British weather can be very unpredictable, so it’s better to be safe than sorry!

4. Wear Comfortable Footwear

Walking on grass with high heels is no easy feat, so picking the correct footwear is essential! Opt for comfortable yet stylish shoes such as wedges or chunky heels with a well-cushioned insole that will provide stability throughout the day. Don’t forget to wear them beforehand to test them out and avoid any pesky blisters.

If you’re still worried about discomfort, it’s a good idea to pack a pair of fold-up flats in your handbag - just in case!

5. Plan Your Accessories

Choose statement accessories to complete your look, such as Waterproof Jewellery, a bold hat, fascinator, or headpiece, to serve as the focal point of your outfit.

Keep your race day essentials organised with a chic clutch or small handbag. Choose a compact style that complements your outfit while being large enough to hold essentials such as your phone, wallet, and race card.

6. Protect Yourself from The Sun

Make sure to protect yourself from sunburn! Bring along a wide-brimmed hat to shield your face and neck while exploring the venue. Sunglasses with UV protection are also essential to guard your eyes from glare and harmful UV rays while spectating the race. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to any exposed skin, and  reapply regularly throughout the day.

7. After the Race

After a long and tiring day, the last thing you want is to be stranded with no way of getting home! Be sure to plan your transportation home in advance, as train stations and taxi ranks are sure to be very busy on Race Day. Consider car sharing with a group of friends to split the costs, or plan to stay at a hotel nearby.

If you’re continuing the celebrations at a bar or pub after the race, be sure to make a reservation as early as possible to avoid disappointment!

Most importantly, have fun and prepare to make memories that will last a lifetime!
