The Oxford City Guide

Planning a last-minute getaway? Grab our just-in Oxford Holdall and start planning your trip to ‘the city of dreaming spires’, with our handy Oxford City Guide!

To celebrate the launch of our gorgeous brand-new Oxford Holdall, we thought it only right to give you the Katie Loxton city guide to its namesake; Oxford!

Nestled in the gorgeous Oxford countryside, the Artist Residence is the self-proclaimed ‘best boutique hotel in Oxford’ - and it’s not hard to see why. Five comfy bedrooms are housed in the 16th century country inn (complete with a pub, The Mason Arms, downstairs!), with three further rooms in the converted farm outbuildings and shepherds hut. Each room is individually designed and boasts carefully curated limited edition art, and vintage and reclaimed furniture.

Located inside the stunning, newly renovated Randolph Hotel, The Alice (a nod to Oxford resident, author Lewis Carroll) is an all-day British brasserie offering seasonal classic dishes with a modern twist - it even has its own bar! A delightful, whimsical decor can be seen across all the dining areas - we recommend eating in The Snug or The Drawing Room - with pale pink leather banquettes, baby blue chairs, twinkling vintage chandeliers, and large windows making it a feast for the eyes!

Nestled next to Magdalen Bridge on the River Cherwell, the must-see Botanic Gardens offer the perfect escape from the busy city centre, allowing you to spend an afternoon getting lost in the beauty of nature - and boy, is it beautiful! With over 400 years of history, the Oxford Botanic Gardens are the oldest in the world, and is actually split into two areas: The Walled Garden and The Lower Garden, which makes it a lot easier to explore!

Not only is it the single independent cinema in Oxford, The Ultimate Picture Palace is officially one of the oldest cinemas in the UK - no wonder it’s a Grade II listed building!. Art deco in design (if you didn’t get an Insta selfie in front of the UPP, did you even go to Oxford?!), the cosy single-screen auditorium plays host to a mixture of cult, indie, classic and mainstream flicks - so you’re sure to find something you love showing soon!
