Staff Spotlight: Doriane, Senior Stylist
Meet the people behind our brand! We sat down with our Senior Stylist, Doriane, to get the skinny on what it’s like to work for Katie Loxton…
Did you go to Uni? What did you study?
Yes, I went to Sunderland University and studied Fashion Journalism as I originally wanted to go down the editorial route but fell in love with styling while interning.
What did you want to be when you were little?
I wanted to be a pilot or a fashion designer.
What does a day in the life of a senior stylist look like?
My days are very varied which is why I enjoy my job so much. One day I could be shopping for looks and props for upcoming shoots or sorting through returns and another I’m on set changing the model’s outfits between each shot and making sure our products look amazing in our campaign imagery.
What does a day-to-day look like for you?
Because I work across both Katie Loxton and Joma Jewellery, I don’t really have a typical day. I’ll start my day with emails and checking what projects are coming up. I also have regular check ins with the creative team and art director to discuss future shoots we look into themes, colour schemes, props. I then start sourcing looks/props that I feel will highlight our products and that our customers will relate to. I then usually put those ideas in a deck for the art director to review before shoot day.
What do you love most about your role and business?
I love that my role is such a collaborative one. I can’t operate without the team and I love seeing us take a creative idea from start to finish and making it come to life.
I love that everyone in the business is so friendly and welcoming and with ambitious goals and I love being able to contribute to that overarching vision.
Where do you find styling inspiration?
I find inspiration from a lot of places. I spend a lot of time reading magazines, going to art expos and I love social media too especially TikTok.
What is your proudest moment (work related, and not work related)?
I’m proud of paying my way through university and graduating with a First. I worked full time hours throughout my second and third year but it was honestly so worth it.
If you had to be a Katie Loxton Bag – which one would it be?
I’d probably be the Lucie, just because it’s small but capable of holding quite a lot. Small and mighty like me I guess.
If you could style one celeb in Katie Loxton, who would it be?
I’d love to style Lori Harvey in Katie Loxton, she is so chic and effortlessly stylish.
When you’re not working, what are you doing?
When I’m not at work, I enjoy going to the gym, followed by brunch, dancing and eating out. I’m a massive fan of sushi and pan Asian cuisine. I also love going to the cinemas, the smell of popcorn brings back good childhood memories.
